Accessibility
banano.sh shows its status with noko, open-source node monitoring software. noko aims to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA, so the page works for people who use a screen reader, a keyboard only, magnification or their own colours.
What it provides
- Keyboard. Every control can be reached with Tab, in reading order, and shows a clear focus outline. Dialogs keep focus inside while open; Esc closes them and returns focus.
- Structure. One main heading, headings in order, labelled sections and controls, and the node's address written out beside its QR code.
- Colours. The page follows your device's light or dark setting, or you can choose. Text meets AA contrast in every colour option offered, and states are written in words, not shown by colour alone.
- Reading. The page reflows to 320 pixels wide without sideways scrolling, text can be zoomed, and labels wrap rather than cut off when text spacing is increased.
- Motion. Nothing flashes. With reduced motion set on your device, nothing animates.
How it was checked
Automated WCAG 2.2 AA checks (axe-core) on each of its layouts in light and dark, every colour scheme, its dialogs open and at phone width, plus checks by hand for keyboard order, focus visibility, reflow, text spacing and reduced motion. Last checked: noko 1.1.1, 27 October 2026. Automated tools can't catch everything.
Known limitations
- Single-key shortcuts. Letter keys (for example t for colours and f for full screen) work anywhere on the page except while typing, and can't yet be turned off. Press ? to list them.
- Live figures. The node's figures refresh every 10 seconds and can't be paused.
- Long addresses. Some layouts shorten them with “…”; the full address is in its link and can be copied.
- The operator's own text. The welcome message and links are written by whoever runs this node, and aren't covered by this statement.
